RAMBAN, Apr 4: Jawahar Tunnel, Ramban, Chanderkote and Batote Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 119 cattle and arresting 8 smugglers.
As per police sources, teams from Police Post Jawahar Tunnel, Police Station Ramban, Police Station Chanderkote and Police Station Batote laid check points in their respective areas and intercepted 9 Kashmir bound vehicles.
During checking, police teams rescued 119 bovine animals and arrested eight persons, who were identified as Amir Hussain, son of Mohd Hussain Khanday of Nowpora District Anantnag, Shabir Ahmed of Qazigund, Gulzar Ahmed Shergojri of Saransu Qazigund, Bashir Ahmed of Panthyal, Ramsoo, District Ramban, Sardar Mohd of Lower Munda, Dooru District Anantnag, Mohd Gafoor of Balli Nallah District Udhampur, Lateef of Rethain District Udhampur and Tousif Ahmed of Batote District Ramban.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Police Stations Banihal, Ramban, Chandekote and Batote and investigation started.
Police teams led by Incharge Police Post Banihal PSI Harish Kumar, SHO Police Station Ramban Inspector Sandeep Charak, SHO Police Station Chanderkote Inspector PD Singh and SHO Police Station Batote Inspector Sudhir Sadhotra foiled the bovines smuggling bids under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Pardeep Singh Sen, SDPO Banihal Nissar Khoja and SP Ramban Mohita Sharma.
