JAMMU, Feb 27: Jhajjar Kotli police foiled bovines smuggling bid by rescuing 21 cattle and nabbing three persons.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Jhajjr Kotli police station laid a naka near Suketar Domail area and signaled two trucks bearing registration numbers JK02AJ-8867 and JK08B-8665 to stop for checking.
On seeing police team, the drivers accelerated the vehicles and tried to escape from the spot, but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicles.
During checking, police rescued 21 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested three persons.
The accused have been identified as Layaqat Ali, son of Bashir Ahmed of Doru, District Anantnag, Mohammad Ashraf, son of Mohammad Younis of Mansar, District Samba and Riyaz Ahmed, son of Mohammad Yousuf of Doru, District Anantnag.
A case under FIR Number 28/16 under Section 188 RPC and 3/5 PCA Act has been registered at police station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Jhajjar Kotli police station Inspector Ravinder Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma, SP Rural Rajiv Pandey and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
