JAMMU, Aug 14: The police foiled four major bovines smuggling bids in Kotranka, Thannamandi and Hubi areas of district Rajouri during last 24 hours and rescued 57 cattle.
A police official said that Police Party from Kandi during naka checking intercepted one person who was carrying 14 bovine animals on foot. The accused smuggler namely Mohd Taj, son of Reham Ali, resident of Kandi was arrested. A case FIR No. 100/2018 U/S 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered in this connection.
Another police team in the same area during checking at village Kandi Gali, intercepted one bovine smuggler namely Mohd Iqbal son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Khorebani Khawas and rescued 24 bovine animals. In this regard a case FIR No.101/2018 U/S 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered.
Another police team headed by SHO Thanamandi, Nazir Dar under the supervision of SDPO Thanamandi Iftikar Chowdhary during naka at upper bridge Thanamandi, intercepted a `Junga’ bearing registration number JK22-3646 driven by Zakir Hussain, son of Lal Hussain, resident of Shopian and a Tata mobile bearing registration number JK11B-4398 driven by Nazarat Hussain, son of Zabir Shah and found 15 milch animals loaded in them. Both the drivers were arrested and the vehicles seized at PS Thanamandi. The cattle were rescued.
Four more bovines have been rescued by PS Kandi team at Hubi and smuggler namely Wali Mohd, son of Abdul Aziz, resident of Dhakikote was arrested.
