Bovine smuggling bids foiled; 113 animals rescued, 9 smugglers held

JAMMU, Oct 30: Nagrota police foiled a major bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 101 animals and arresting 8 smugglers while Lakhanpur police also rescued 12 bovine smugglers from the clutches of a bovine smuggler.
In its continuous efforts of curbing bovine smuggling, Nagrota police laid a special naka near Sidhra bridge and seized 7 trucks bearing registration numbers JK02AL-2195, JK02AJ-8867, JK02CD-8843, JK02AG-8031, JK02U-2615, JK02AK-8637, JK02G-8497 and 7 Tata Mobiles (load carriers) bearing registration numbers JK20A-1141, JK02CC-1726, JK02BW-9358, JK02CB-6705, JK02CC-1726, JK02BL-3708 and JK02CA-8825 and one Auto (load carrier) bearing registration number JK02CJ-7160 with total 101 bovines loaded in them.
The police party rescued all the bovine animals and arrested the eight accused Farooq Ahmed son of Kalu Khan of Noorpura (Tral), Sajad Ahmed son of Bashir Ahmed of Pahalgam (Anantnag), Nazakat Ali son of Shabir Ahmad of Anantnag, Muzamal Ahmed Chowhan son of Abdul Aziz Chowhan of Qazigund (Anantnag), Faisal Ahmed son of Javaid of Sithri Maidan (Anantnag), Yasser Khatana son of Altaf Hussain of Shangus (Anantnag), Riyaz Ahmed son of Baj Din of Chanderkote (Ramban) and Munir Ahmed son of Gulab Din of Dablehar (RS Pura, Jammu).
In this connection, 15 separate cases vide FIR Numbers 393/2020, 394/2020, 395/2020, 396/2020, 397/2020, 398/2020, 399/2020, 400/2020, 401/2020, 402/2020, 403/2020, 404/2020, 405/2020, 406/2020 and 407/2020 were registered in police station Nagrota under relevant sections of law.
The arrests and seizures were made by a police party headed by SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh with the assistance of SHO police station Nagrota Inspector Mohd Shoket and SI Ayoub Khan (Incharge PP Sidhra), and under the supervision of SP Rural Jammu Sanjay Sharma and overall supervision of SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil.
Meanwhile, tightening the noose of bovine smugglers in Kathua, a team of police station Lakhanpur (Kathua) led by SHO, Inspector Sanjeev Singh Chib, rescued 12 bovine animals which were loaded in a truck mercilessly.
The truck bearing registration number JK02AA-0331 was intercepted by the police party during Naka/vehicle checking at NHW Bye-pass Road Lakhanpur while it was on its way from Punjab towards Srinagar. The bovines were being transported illegally without any permission in the vehicle.
The accused truck driver namely Jagir Lal son of Om Prakash of Mahar Mundian tehsil and district Gurdaspur (Punjab) was arrested on the spot by the police while the vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized. In this regard, a case FIR No 95/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act was registered at police station Lakhanpur and investigation initiated.
