JAMMU, July 31: Bishnah police foiled bovines smuggling bid by rescuing an injured cattle and arresting two persons. However, angry mob held protest at village Pandoria and set the seized horse cart on fire.
As per police sources, during routine checking, a team from Bishnah Police Station intercepted a person carrying an injured cattle on horse cart late last night.
“During questioning, the person failed to give satisfactory reply and police arrested him. The arrested person has been identified as Manzoor, son of Sham Din, a resident of Morchapur. His accomplice identified as Kalu, son of Mohammad Hussain, a resident of Kalapur, who was on motorcycle was also arrested”, sources said.
A case under FIR Number 148/18 under Section 3 PCA Act read with 26 Police Act was registered at Bishnah Police Station and investigation started, sources said, adding that the cart along with injured cattle was handed over to a local in village Pandoria for further shifting the cattle to Gou Shala.
Meanwhile, in the morning today, some of the villagers assembled at village Pandoria and held protest. The protestors barged into the house of the person to whom the police had handed over the injured cattle along with horse cart and brought the cart on the road. The agitating mob later set the horse cart on fire.
After getting information, a team from Police Station Bishnah rushed to the spot and doused the flames, sources said, adding that people dispersed from the spot on the assurance by the officials of the Police Department that strict action will be taken against the bovines smugglers.
Later, a case under FIR Number 149/18 under Sections 341, 435 (damaging seized property), 147 and 148 RPC was registered against the mob at Police Station Bishnah and further investigation of the case is going on.
