Bovine smuggling bid foiled, 9 cattle rescued

RAJOURI, Apr 7: The police foiled a bovine smuggling bid after smugglers broke police barricades at Lam and rescued nine cattle this morning.
A police spokesman said during early morning today, a team of police headed by Incharge PP Lam, SI Kali Charan under the supervision of SHO Nowshera, Mohammad Amin Malik and SDPO Nowshera Brijesh Sharma during routine checking at naka in view forthcoming elections signaled a Tata Mobile vehicle No. JK11B/ 3316 to stop. But the driver of the vehicle speeded up and broke the police naka.
An alert was flashed by police team and all the police nakas enroute were strengthened to intercept the vehicle while a team of police headed by Incharge PP Lam SI Kali Charan started to chase the vehicle and the chase continued for over five kilometres.
Finding no rescue route, the driver and the smugglers left the vehicle in the middle of Lam – Rajouri road and fled from there towards the dense forests. Police team seized the vehicle from the spot and rescued nine bovines from it. A case FIR No. 62/19 U/S 279, 336, 188, 295A RPC, 3 PCA Act , 3 Public Property Prevention of Damage Act has been registered at Police Station Nowshera and investigation taken up.
