RAJOURI, Aug 19: The police foiled massive bovine animals’ smuggling in district Rajouri last night and rescued 74 cattle and arrested four persons in this connection.
A senior police officer said that police parties during nakkas in Budhal (Nanga Thub), Khawas, Taryath and Kakora area of Manjakote last night, foiled massive attempt to smuggle bovine animals to Kashmir via Mughal Road and rescued 74 milch animals. He claimed that all of the smugglers were carrying these cattle on foot to cross nakas and some of them were managed to escape taking cover of darkness.
Those arrested were identified as Mohd Iqbal and Mohd Ashraf, both sons of Mohd Shafi, residents of Khour Bali in Budhal; Tanveer Ahmed resident of Darwari and Mohd Maqbool, resident of Kalaban in Thannamandi. The police have registered cases against them.
