Bovine smuggling bid foiled, 2 arrested

JAMMU, Mar 11: In its continuous drive against the illegal trafficking of bovine animals, Akhnoor police today foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing two animals and arresting two bovine smugglers.
Based on specific inputs, a team of Akhnoor police led by Inspector Pardeep Sharma, SHO under the supervision of Farooq Qaiser, SDPO Akhnoor laid a naka near Akhnoor on Jammu-Rajouri Road and intercepted a vehicle bearing No JK02B-1381 carrying two animals.
The cops rescued the bovine animals.
The vehicle was seized and the two smugglers were arrested from it. They have been identified as Mangat Ram son of Bari Ram, a resident of Kot Mehra, Akhnoor and Swaran Singh son of Janak Singh R/o Pahariwala, Khour.
A FIR No. 46/2014 under Section 188 has been registered at police station Akhnoor.
