JAMMU, Mar 17: Chowki Choura Police busted a gang of bovine smugglers issuing fake medical fitness certificate and permissions on behalf of Chief Animal Husbandry Office and DC Office Jammu with the arrest of four accused.
As per police sources, a team from Police Post Chowki Choura led by SI Saroop Singh laid a naka yesterday and intercepted two Mahindra pick-up vehicles bearing registration numbers JK11B-2104 and JK11B-4673 carrying four bovine animals were stopped.
During checking, the drivers along with other associates produced medical fitness certificate in respect of bovine animals issued by Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Jammu and permission of ADC Jammu.
However, police got suspicious and the said certificates were sent to Deputy Commissioner’s Office and Chief Animal Husbandry office Jammu for verification wherein it was intimated by these offices that the issued certificates are forged and have not been issued by them.
On receipt of this letter, a case under FIR Number 66/2022 under Sections 188, 420, 465, 468, 471, 120-B IPC r/w 11 PCA Act was registered at Police Station Akhnoor and all the four persons identified as Javed Iqbal, son of Mohammad Mohd Ishaq of Badhoon District Rajouri, Yasir Hussain, son of Mohammad Sharief of Ningnar District Rajouri, Asif Hussain, son of Ghulam Nabi of Rajal Nowshera District Rajouri and Basharat, son of Abdul Hameed of Laha Thanamandi District Rajouri were arrested vis both the vehicles were seized and the investigation was set into motion.
During further investigation, it came to fore that a well-established organized gang of bovine smugglers are issuing fake medical fitness certificate and permissions on behalf of Chief Animal Husbandry Office and DC Office Jammu.
Further arrests and recovery in the matter are expected besides role of any Government official is also being ascertained in this regard.
The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of SHO Akhnoor Inspector Hilal Azhar, SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial, SP Rural Sanjay Sharma and SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli.
