Bovine smuggler held

KATHUA, Oct 1: Police today arrested a bovine smuggler and rescued eight milch animals from his possession, which he was smuggling to neighbouring State Punjab.
Police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Rajbagh Police Station laid a naka near Handey Chack and arrested Sher Din alias Sheru, son of Khan Mohd of Handey Chack, tehsil Hiranagar, district Kathua. Eight bovine animals were rescued from his possession, which he was smuggling to neighbouring State Punjab on foot, spokesman added.
A case under FIR number 175/12 under Section 188 RPC has been registered at Police Station Rajbagh and investigation started.
Meanwhile, Police laid down a naka at Banyari and apprehended one person namely Jaswinder Singh, son of Mohinder Singh of Preet Nagar Batala, Punjab along with 60 numbers of motorcycle Batteries, which he brought to Banyari without paying Sales Tax.
The said person was handed over to the officials of Sales Tax Department who fined Rs 9315 to him.
