BOSE conducts workshop on review of syllabus in Bhoti textbooks

LEH, Sept 8: The J&K State Board of School Education (BOSE) conducted a six-day workshop on the review and development of syllabi / textbooks of “Bhoti ” language for classes 1st to 8th and 11th & 12th in consonance with the recommendations and guidelines as envisaged in National Curriculum Framework-2005 at J&K Art and Cultural Academy, Leh, Ladakh. The workshop was conducted as a follow-up action on the initiatives taken by the Minister of Education, Nayeem Akhter. It was graced by the presence of Chairman, J&K State BOSE, Prof Zahoor Ahmed Chat, Secretary, JKBOSE, Prof Veena Pandita, and Director (Academics), Kaneez Fatima, who inspired the participants with their matured perceptions and gave inputs regarding the constructive approach being adopted by JKBOSE for curriculum and textbooks development in light of NCF- 2005.
Chairman JKBOSE,  Zahoor Ahmed Chat emphasized the use of Bhoti language as the most powerful means of communication, vehicle of expression of cultural values and aspirations and instrument of conserving culture especially for the Ladakh region.
A cross section of well renowned experts of Bhoti language who are eminent scholars, authors and academicians and are associated with JKBOSE for a long time for review and development of curriculum & textbooks, participated in the workshop.
The eminent experts involved in this workshop, included Prof Jamyang Gyaltsan, Van Thupstan Paldan, Prof Kunchok Wangdus, Dr Thupstan Norboo and Sheikh Javed.
This group reviewed the textbooks of Bhoti for 1st to 8th and recommended certain suggestions for their improvement using constructive approach and child centric vision and also contextualized these textbooks with local specific contents.
Furthermore, the syllabi and courses of studies of Bhoti for classes 11th & 12th and textbook of Bhoti for class 11th were developed and finalized simultaneously in the workshop.
In the beginning, Dr Yasir Hamid Sirwal, Academic Officer,   highlighted the importance of implementation of National Curriculum Framework-2005.
