BOSE conducts program on State Open Schooling

JAMMU, May 16: The J&K State Board of School Education conducted a one day interaction/ orientation programme of heads of the accredited centres of J&K State Open School of Jammu Division.
A total number of seventeen heads from seventeen accredited centres located in 10 districts of Jammu division participated in the programme.
Dr Yasir Hamid Sirwal, Nodal Officer, J&K State Open Schooling, through his presentation, inspired the participants with the mission, objectives and functions of State Open Schooling. He stressed upon the mission taken by J&K State BOSE to initiate Open Learning System to augment opportunities for further education, democratize education and make it a life- long process thereby help tens of thousands of students who have dropped out of the formal system or those who cannot attend a regular institution.
Ranjeet Singh Manhas, I/C JKSOS, JD also spoke on the occasion and stressed on achieving the mission of  empowerment of children of all the communities, particularly girls; children of scheduled tribes and backward classes with a view to enhance their status in the socio-economic order and ensuring social justice and universalization of elementary education.
J&K State BOSE has launched Open Schooling for School dropouts, older persons and persons in employment to enhance their chances of promotion. Its Divisional Offices are located at Rehari Colony, Jammu and old Campus, Lal Mandi, Srinagar. This facility at first instance is available for class 10th this year through a network of 38 selected Government Institutions.
