GURDASPUR, Apr 29: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today said that Indian borders are safe under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and this is a fact which is now being acknowledged by the whole world.
Addressing a public rally here after the filing of Lok Sabha nomination papers by the BJP candidate Sunny Deol, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the entire Gurdaspur belt carries the legacy of patriots and martyrs, and the two adjoining border districts of Gurdaspur in Punjab and Kathua in Jammu & Kashmir, together share a long stretch of International Border (IB), which carries rich history of brave-hearts who have laid down their lives to resist Pakistani aggression from time to time.
Even the people living in the border areas today, he said, testify that the kind of retaliatory action witnessed from the Indian side under the Modi Government, was never witnessed in the past over six decades and the air-strikes carried out under the directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have boosted the morale of the people living here.
Referring to Sunny Deol as the most appropriate candidate for the constituency, Dr Jitendra Singh said, Sunny carries with him the brave experience of “Border” (the popular film) and also has the advantage of “Dhai Kilo Ka Haath” (Hand weighing two-and-a-half kilos) which will prove enough to crush the “Congress Ka Haath” (Hand of Congress). He referred to the Deol family’s grassroots connection with Punjab and their commitment to BJP’s nationalist ideology, which Sunny Deol has inherited from his father Dharmendra who also was a successful BJP MP in his time.
Appealing for a vote for BJP and Prime Minister Modi, Dr Jitendra Singh said, Sunny Deol has a record of discharging his responsibility with sincerity and honesty and therefore, Gurdaspur will feel proud to have him as his representative in the Lok Sabha.
