Border Security Force first line of defence, ready to face any eventuality on frontiers: DIG Budakoti

SRINAGAR:  Affirming that the Border Security Force is India’s first line of defence, a top officer said on Thursday that it is prepared to face any eventuality on the frontiers.

Deputy Inspector General/PSO S C Budakoti said on the sidelines of 52nd BSF Raising Day function held at Frontier Headquarter at Humhama that its personnel, operating alongside Army, are doing an excellent job.

On an increase in infiltration attempts being made from across the frontier before the passes are closed for winter months due to snow, Mr Budakoti said there was nothing new in it.

“During winter season the passes are closed. If you look at the data, infiltration goes down during winters?,” he said.

However, Mr Budakoti said the BSF will not lower its guard and is ready to face any eventuality at the frontier.

On the BSF Raising Day, he said the force is celebrating its 52nd year of existence.  “BSF was raised in 1965 and on December I every year the day is celebrated across the country. The biggest programme happens in Delhi, which also includes a march-past,” he added.

Mr Budakoti said BSF during these 52 years had done a tremendous job ? be it in the field of operations, sports or welfare schemes. (AGENCIES)
