BOPEE exam cancellation needs thorough probe: PDP

SRINAGAR, June 8: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today demanded a thorough investigation into the cancellation of the BOPEE M.Sc Nursing entrance examination, alleging that the episode bore the hallmarks of a “larger scam” and had put the future of hundreds of students at risk.

PDP spokesperson Iqbal Tramboo said the cancellation had left nearly 500 candidates in uncertainty despite months of preparation and financial expenditure by students and their families.
“The cancellation of an examination is a grave matter. Students prepare for it, spend money and put in hard work, but in the end exams are either cancelled or declared null and void before the results are announced,” he told reporters here.
Drawing parallels with earlier examination controversies, including the cancellation of NEET, Tramboo said recurring irregularities had raised serious questions about the credibility of admission and recruitment processes.
“Across the country, examinations have increasingly become a scam. In the BOPEE exam cancellation as well, it appears that there is a scam and influential people may be involved. There is a need for a thorough investigation and the Government must take the matter seriously,” he said.
He alleged that such incidents were damaging the prospects of students and called for strict action against those responsible.
Notably, BOPEE recently cancelled the M.Sc Nursing entrance test after detecting a mismatch between candidates’ data and OMR answer sheets, rendering the examination process invalid.
Supporting demands for accountability over paper leaks and examination irregularities, Tramboo said students across the country were paying the price for administrative failures.
