SRINAGAR, Apr 27: Police today said they have arrested a bootlegger and a drug peddler in south and North Kashmir.
A police spokesman said acting on specific information police apprehended a man identified as Tariq Ahmad Sheikh. “On his search, 20 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered,” he said.
The spokesman said a case has been registered under FIR number 28/2016 under Section 50 Excise Act against him and further investigation has been taken up.
Meanwhile, police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered prescription drugs from his possession in Sopore in Baramulla district.
A police spokesman said on a tip off police apprehended a man identified as Asif Ahmad Mir near Degree College. “On his search police recovered 254 capsules of prescription drugs,” he said.
The spokesman said a case under FIR number 105/16 under Section 8/22 NDPS has been registered against him and further investigation is going on
