Book sellers suggest NCERT to open sale depots in J&K

UDHAMPUR, Jan 29: Udhampur Book Sellers Association has appealed NCERT to open its sale depots in Jammu and Kashmir so that the students may get books timely.
Talking to media persons, President of the Book Sellers Association Arun Kumar Gupta drew attention of the concerned authorities towards the very important issue pertaining to the publication and distribution of textbooks, right from class 1st to 12th.
“The distribution work has been controlled by NCERT which is headquartered at Delhi from where the registered book sellers from all over India make purchases and carry these books to their respective States after payment huge freight,” he said, adding that the NCERT pays some commission to the book sellers who have to bear all the expenditure with the result students get these books either on printed rates or some time on higher rates.
Arun Kumar suggested that the NCERT should open its sale depots in every State as it will help the students as well as to the book sellers to make available books at the reasonable rates. Besides, he added, it will help generating employment for the locals and also check sale of duplicate books in the market.
