JAMMU, Feb 6: Providing an opportunity to Jammuites to buy quality literature in different Indian languages at reasonable rate, a 5-day Book Exhibition by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi opened at the Kala Kendra, here today.
The major attractions of the exhibition are the books on literary criticism, monographs on eminent literary personalities of the country and contemporary writers of different languages. In addition to Dogri books published by Sahitya Akademi, the exhibition has on show the significant books published in all major languages of the country by Sahitya Akademi. The general policy of Sahitya Akademi is to publish those books which have received Sahitya Akademi Award or national and international recognition. The publication of classics of various languages is also a policy of Academy.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Prof. Lalit Magotra, Convener of Dogri Advisory Board in Sahitya Akademi. Prof Magotra said that this exhibition provides a unique opportunity to Jammuites to see and buy some important and rare books in Dogri, Punjabi, Kashmiri and books from other languages translated into English and Hindi.
