RAMBAN, July 30: Cops here today with the help of SDRF and local volunteers retrieved a semi-decomposed body of an accident victim from river Chenab in Khowbagh area of Ramban.
Police sources said the decomposed body of a road accident victim and accidental vehicle were spotted in river Chenab in Khowbagh area and the body was tied to the seat belt of the vehicle.
On getting information a police team led by SHO Police Station Ramban along with SDRF personnel and local volunteers reached the spot and retrieved the body and the accidental vehicle.
The body was shifted to the mortuary of District Hospital for postmortem and other legal formalities.
Identity of the deceased was established as Bharat Singh, 52, resident of Teli Majra Seri, Ramban, driver of mini-load carrier vehicle bearing registration number JK19-9605 that rolled down into Chenab near Mehar on July 7 resulting in death of three persons travelling in it.
SHO Police Station Ramban, Inspector Nayeem Matoo said the body was handed over to the relatives for last rites after completing legal formalities.
