Srinagar, Mar 16: Police today recovered body of a male baby that was abandoned near a forest area of Vilgam here in North Kashmir district of Kupwara.
Police said that some people who had gone to the forest for collection of morels and firewood, spotted the abandoned body and informed the police.
The body was retrieved and after performing medico legal formalities, it was buried with the help of local Auqaf.
A case (FIR No. 11/2020) under IPC Section 315 (act done with an intent to prevent child being born alive or cause it to die after birth) and 318 (concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body) has been registered against unidentified people and investigations are underway.
This is the second such body recovered in the area. Last week body of a male baby was recovered from Haprada area of Shaldoora in Kupwara.
