JAMMU, Aug 27: The dead body of a 17-year-old girl, who had drowned last night in Ranbir Canal, was found today.
According to a police spokesman, a teen aged girl namely Anita Devi daughter of Satish Kumar, resident of Ghat, tehsil and district Doda (at present Shakti Nagar, Rajpura), last night slipped into Ranbir Canal at Rajpura when she went to wash her hands near the Canal.
The family members of the girl who was present on the spot remained spectator and could not save her due to darkness as well as fast flowing of water in the Canal. Today at about 3.30 pm, the body of the girl was recovered from the Canal near Rajinder Park.
The concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter.
