RAMBAN, Oct 13: Bodies of two persons, who had gone missing along with their motorcycle on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway few days back was recovered today from a 700-feet deep gorge.
As per police sources, Arshad Ahmed (37), son of Karimbaksh and Mohammad Aslam (34), son of Mohammad Wazir, both residents of Diani, district Samba were on their way to Srinagar from Samba to attend some family function on a motorcycle bearing registration number JK21A-7161 on October 9.
After having tea break at around 2:45 am at Digdol during the intervening night of October 9 and 10, they started their onward journey and met with accident few kilometers from Digdol area early morning on October 10.
As the family members of the duo were trying to contact them on their mobile numbers, they did not respond.
The family members of the youths approached the police and manhunt was launched to trace them out.
After tracing the last location of the youths from their mobile network, police team led by SHO Vinod Kundal, Red Cross volunteers and quick rescue team today found their dead bodies in a deep gorge near Digdol.
The bodies were shifted to District Hospital Ramban, where after conducting autopsy, these were handed over to family members for last rites.
A case in this regard has also been registered at Ramban police station and investigation started.
