Board of Doctors conduct postmortem on COVID victim’s nephews, both test -ve

25 test Corona positive in Jammu, 57 in Ladakh

JAMMU, June 19: Twenty five persons today tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu region and 57 in the Union Territory of Ladakh even as the Government Medical College (GMC) authorities set up a Board of Doctors which conducted post-mortem on two nephews of a COVID victim who had died yesterday at Sidhra cremation ground. However, the duo have tested negative for Coronavirus.
GMC Jammu Principal Dr Nasib Chand Digra this morning constituted the Board of Doctors for conducting postmortem on the bodies of Vipan Zadoo and Vimal Zadoo, both residents of Gangyal and nephews of a COVID victim, who had died at Sidhra cremation ground during last rites of their uncle.
The COVID victim hailing from Bohri, Talab Tillo had died in the GMC Jammu late Wednesday night. His nephews had collapsed along with his son. The victim’s son had, however, survived.
The Board of Doctors comprised Dr Ameet Kaur, Assistant Professor Pathology, Dr Hamid Wani, Assistant Professor Surgery, Dr Shazia Hamid, Assistant Professor Medicines and Dr Shivani Mehta, Lecturer, Forensic Medicines.
The GMC authorities handed over bodies of the two nephews of Corona victim to their family members. Earlier, in the day, COVID tests were also conducted on both and they tested negative for the virus.
Meanwhile, eight persons, all travelers have tested positive for Coronavirus in Jammu district.
They comprised 34-year-old youth from Durga Nagar, Bantalab, 31-year-old from Gangyal and 39-year-old man from Miran Sahib.
All others were also under administrative quarantine and have been shifted from the quarantine centres to COVID Hospitals.
Four persons have tested Corona positive in Samba district including 38-year-old man from Nanga, Ramgarh, 22-year-old youth from Badyali Deon, Purmandal and a youth from Bari Brahamana, all of whom had travel history of New Delhi. The fourth Corona victim is also a traveler.
Seven persons have tested positive for Coronavirus in Kathua district and they too were under administrative quarantine after their return from different parts of the country to their hometowns.
They have been shifted to COVID hospitals.
Another 1100 persons today crossed Lakhanpur, the gateway to Jammu and Kashmir in Kathua district, from different States.
Two women were among three persons who tested Corona positive in Poonch district.
The positive women hailed from Noona Bandi, Poonch and Nabna, Surankote while a man from Ward No. 13 in Poonch has also tested Corona positive. The two women had travel history of Ahmedabad and New Delhi while the man had returned from Uttar Pradesh.
Two persons tested Corona positive in Udhampur and one in Rajouri district and all three were travelers.
Doda, Reasi, Kishtwar and Ramban districts didn’t report any positive case today.
Meanwhile, 25 Corona patients were today treated and discharged from various COVID hospitals in Jammu region. Of them, 13 belonged to Jammu district, five Udhampur, four Kathua, two Reasi and one to Poonch district.
As per official figures, Jammu region now has 1306 Corona positive cases but, out of them, only 639 are active. Number of recoveries, which stood at 658, has surpassed the active cases in Jammu region.
There have been nine Corona casualties in Jammu region.
Meanwhile, 57 more persons today tested positive for COVID-19 in the Union Territory of Ladakh taking total number of cases to 744 including 189 in Leh and 555 in Kargil.
Number of active cases in Ladakh stood at 648 including 122 in Leh and 526 in Kargil.
As many as 95 Corona patients have been cured, 66 in Leh and 29 in Kargil while there has been one Corona related death in Ladakh.
As many as 59 Corona positive cases have been admitted in COVID hospitals, 467 are in home isolation and 122 in COVID Care Centres.
