JAMMU, June 28: Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), Coordinator for Labour- 20 Group of G-20 in India , organised a seminar on the topic of “Social Security for Informal Sector, Scope, Opportunities, Challenges and way Forward” , here today at Jammu Club.
More than 200 delegates from different districts and other social activist attended the seminar, in which B Surenderen, All India Sangathan Mantri Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and chief coordinator L-20; Pawan Kumar, Coordinator L-20 and Utter Cheter Sangathan Mantri BMS; Dy Labour Commissioner Minakshi Koul; Parshotam Dadichi, Ex Additional Secretary Law; Asfaq Ahmed Chohan, State President BMS; Neelam Sharma, General Secretary BMS; Harbans Choudhary and Ashok Choudhary participated.
While addressing the participants, Pawan Kumar explained in detail the concept of L-20 which is part of G- 20 and explained that there are 11 engagement groups like Labour 20, Business 20, Women 20, Civil 20, Tourism – 20, Parliament – 20, Young – 20, Start-up – 20, etc. L-20 inception meeting was held at Amritsar on 18-20 March 2023.
Minakshi Koul explained in detail the social security schemes being run by the Labour Department and problems faced in their implementations. She ensured that Labour Department always stands up with the workers’ rights.
B Surenderen, Chief Coordinator L-20, explained in detail the challenges before the working class due to technology changes and said that in coming days Artificial Inelegancies (AI) is going to play big roles. Roles of trade unions are also going to change and cannot be limited upto wages and facilities enhancement but social responsibilities have to be shared by the working class and employers whether in Govt sector or private sector, he said.
He further said that Govt has not up dated its data pertaining to unorganised sector up to the mark and in the absence of detail data, Govt schemes are not reaching out to public in proper manner whereas more than 257 welfare schemes have been launched for them.
