JAMMU, Dec 18: A meeting of Daily Wager Workers Union, a unit of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh, was held at BMS office Parade Jammu and discussed the burning issues as well as demands of the Daily Wagers.
Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh alleged that since lot of home work had been done by the Government regarding the Daily Wagers documentation etc, no any specific action has been taken for their regularization and not even their pending wages have been released so far.
BMS demanded that Daily Wagers must be regularized and till then SRO 520 be implemented without any further delay. BMS also demanded Rs 10 lakh as retirement benefit to the disengaged Daily Wagers, release of pending wages and extending all the statuary provisions under social security Act i.e. PF and Gratuity Act to the Daily Wagers.
As Division Bench of High Court of J&K has also ordered that the daily wage employees who have been engaged from 1994 to 6/11/2001 are entitled to SRO 64 and those appointed after that are entitled to SRO 520, BMS is of considered view that the J&K High Court Division Bench decision, pronounced in 2018, must be implemented in letter and spirit for addressing this issue confronting Daily Wagers across J&K,” said Ashok Choudhary, Organizing Secretary BMS, chaired the meeting, attended by senior BMS leader Harbans Choudhary, Chuni Lal and prominent Daily Wagers from all the districts.
