BMO, Medical Officer suspended

POONCH, July 13: Jammu and Kashmir Government has suspended Block Medical Officer (BMO), Surankote and Medical Officer (NHM) for unauthorized absent from duty.
Action was taken by the Government on the recommendation of the Deputy Commissioner, Poonch Inderjeet after a patient died in Surankote hospital as the concerned Medical staff was not available to attend the patient. It led to strong protest from public , public representatives and the relatives of the deceased.
An order issued by the Health and Medical Education department under number 495-JK(HME) read, “Pending enquiry into the matter, sanction is hereby accorded to the suspension of Dr Mohd Anwar, Block Medical Officer, SDH Surankote and Dr Ishtiaq Malik, Medical Officer, NHM, SDH Surankote for remaining unauthorizedly absent from duties on July 10, 2022”.
It is pertinent to mention here that family members of a patient, Nelofar, wife of Mohd Hamid Khan, resident of Pamrote, Surankote, who died on July 10 in SDH Surankote alleged that doctor and staff was not present in the hospital for the treatment. They staged protest in the premises of SDH and demanded action against those who were absent.
