RAJOURI, Oct 23: Block Medical Officer, Kandi, Dr Iqbal Malik has recommended the termination of a doctor and a junior staff nurse of Community Health Centre (CHC) Kandi (Kotranka) in district Rajouri to the higher authorities.
Taking cognizance of the outcome of the inquiry, ordered by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kotranka, with regard to the death of a new born and delivery of the woman in the ambulance while shifting her to Rajouri hospital from CHC Kandi, just near the gate of this hospital on Sept 29, 2018, the Block Medical Officer recommended the termination of the services of Dr Farooq Mir (Medical officer), Kandi hospital and Shanaz Akhtar (JSN) of the same hospital.
A three- member committee led by Dr Imran Malik (MDS) conduced the inquiry and submitted the report. The BMO in his letter to the CMO, Rajouri, DC Rajouri, ADDl Dy Commissioner, Director Health Services Jammu , Director NRM and Commissioner/ Secretary Health and Medical Education has said that as per inquiry report, there was professional mismanagement on the part of said doctor and nurse, thus putting life of the patient and the new born to risk.
He said as per the report, it is clear that situation could not be worse if the doctor himself had seen the patient rather than depending on the JSN observation of per vaginal (PV) examination for which she was not competent to act. Moreover, the patient was not professionally handled by the doctor and the JSN which is a gross negligence on their part.
“In view of the seriousness of the case, I am of the opinion that such negligent doctor and JSN does not deserve to continue in such a vital department which deals with the life of the patients and their contractual appointments under National Health Mission should be terminated,” the BMO in his report said.
It is pertinent to mention here that the said doctor and the nurse have already been attached to the office of CMO, pending inquiry by the Additional Deputy Commissioner.
