BLSKS presents Dogri Musical Concert ‘Banjar Dharti’

JAMMU, June 17: To observe ‘World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought’, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) in coordination with Sangam Tru Art Production here today presented Dogri Musical Concert ‘Banjar Dharti’.
The programme in this regard was inaugurated by the chief guest, V.K Magotra, former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity.
Among the guests of honour were Dr. Tara Singh Charak, former Deputy Director, Health Department J&K; Dr. Anju Kumari Dogra, Health Department and other dignitaries.
Specially prepared items on the occasion to aware the masses were ‘Bachao Bachao Banjar Dharti Gi Bachao’, skits, songs and dances.
The chief guest said that United Nations General Assembly in 1994 declared June 17 as ‘World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought’.
“It is a unique occasion to remind people that desertification can be effectively tackled, with remedial measures by participation and cooperation at all levels,” he maintained adding that the droughts are among the greatest threats to sustainable development, especially in developing and developed nations.
The songs for the occasion were written and directed by Dr. M.L Dogra and the music was composed by Raju Bajgal, Music Instructor BLSKS.
Earlier welcome speech was given by Dr. M.L Dogra, chairman BLSKS.
Singers, musician, actors and students who participated in the musical concert were K.K Joshi, M.C Kotwal, Zulekha Farid, Chahat Chadha, Bindia Okheda, Sudesh Manhas, Druv Pandit, Bodh Raj, Sparsh Sharma, Vandana Gupta, Rahul Kumar and others.
