JAMMU, May 8: On the occasion of World Thalassemia day, a blood donation camp organised by a noted social reformer rotarian Dr Navneet Kaur, Secy General Indian Society for Blood Transfusion and immunohematology J&K, was held here today.
The camp organized for the 400 plus Thalassemia Children registered with SMGS Pedriatics Ward under the supervision of HOD Pediatrics Dr Sanjeev Digra.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kaur stated, “It is very important to strengthen the medical facilities in Jammu by Voluntary blood donations to fulfill the demand of blood in the blood banks for the emergency patients as well as the Thalassemia children as blood is an important component and first line of treatment.”
Dr Vijay Sawhney incharge of Blood bank SMGS Hosp stated that a Healthy Blood Bank will strengthen the facilities.
HOD Pediatric, Dr Sanjeev Digra appreciated the motivation and blood donation drives done in Jammu by the Social Reformer Dr Navneet Kaur engaging different groups, NGOs, Societies and individuals to Voluntarily donate blood at the time when it is most needed.
He also added to kindly take steps to eliminate further birth of Thalassemia patients in India.
Donors from Rotary Jammu Baahu, NGO Support, ISBTI and MHSF stepped up for this noble cause.
Rajeev Nagpal donated the blood and mobilised the volunteer’s for blood donations during the camp.
The Doctors and organiser’s appreciated all the volunteers, who donated blood for the emergency patients and Thalassemia Children.
Dr Kaur also thanked and appreciated the tirelessly doctors and pathologist working in the blood banks and said, “Let’s unite to support these incredible fighters and work towards a brighter, healthier tomorrow! Every drop counts and together, we can make a difference”.
