JAMMU, Oct 19: Corporator of Ward No 42, Vijay Choudhary along with Ch Manmohan Singh (former Mayor) started black topping work of lanes left over lanes in Sector 5 of Nanak Nagar.
It was a long pending demand of residents of Sector 5 as these lanes were broken since long, while during the rains, flooding of the lanes further deteriorated the condition of the roads. With beginning of blacktopping work, residents expressed relief and said that last times these lanes were blacktopped during the tenure of Ch Manmohan Singh (former Jammu Mayor).
Starting the blacktopping work of lanes, Corporator Vijay Choudhary said that she has always prioritized the construction of new lanes and drains as she is committed for maintaining a clean and hygienic ward. She said that lack of appropriate funds and resources can cause friction in the development process but she and her team will not let it affect that much.
On the occasion, a large number of local residents were present. The Corporator asked the residents to become her eyes and ears and if they find any sanitation worker absent from their duty or not doing proper work, they must bring forward that issue to her attention. “If they see any broken street light, they must inform her,” she added.
She informed the people that the tender for blacktopping and modernization of the remaining lanes and drains has been floated.
