JAMMU, Apr 3: Senior AICC leader and Incharge J&K and Ladakh affairs of the party, Rajni Patil (MP) today said that BJP’s vindictive politics will destroy Indian democracy and hamper the overall growth of the country.
While addressing large gathering of the party at the Satygraha protest site here today, the Rajya Sabha MP said that the Congress Party takes strong objection to the “vindictive politics” of the BJP and it was high time to raise a voice against this arrogant Government. She said that the Congress openly questions the BJP on its favourism with the rich capitalists like ‘Adanis’ and their relationship with them.
Patil alleged that BJP is more concerned about the welfare of its capitalist friends than the common man who is suffering under the burden of financial and economic decline. She went on to criticise the BJP for its below-the-belt politics against Rahul Gandhi. She said that the verdict against Rahul Gandhi was passed by a Surat Court while the incident in question occurred in Karnataka. Further, the disqualification came within some time of that, hinting at the vindictive tactics adopted by ruling party.
“Such politics will hamper India’s growth and may prove detrimental to Indian democracy. BJP is favouring the rich capitalists by selling shares of institutions of LIC. Their behaviour is against Indian Constitution. They are trying to silence the opposition for raising the voice of people. BJP leadership is so afraid of the truth that they cannot allow for the truth to be out in the open. This is the reason they are using tactics to defame and oust Congress leaders from the political grounds,” she alleged.
Patil pointed out that there has been deliberate attempt to stifle the dissenting voice, which is in total contrast of the character to the Indian Constitution. Despotism and decay are clearly visible and BJP has failed in upholding the democratic values and independent thoughts. India’s young population is one of the biggest assets but Modi Government is playing with their future as well. Life has been made pitiable for the common people through corruption, neglect of genuine issues, price-rise, unemployment etc, she alleged.
At Udhampur, Patil questioned PM Modi and entire BJP for it’s silence over the Adani issue and asked Prime Minister to answer the questions raised by Rahul Gandhi in the Parliament House. She said asking questions in the country, under BJP Government, has become a crime.
“If you ask uncomfortable and unfavourable questions in the House, you are shouted down, your speech is expunged and you are suspended and thrown out. If you speak outside in public, you are booked and punished. All agencies are misused and pressurised to silence the opposition. Going to people is the only option to protect freedom of speech and right to ask questions to the Government, which is most precious right,” she added.
PCC president Vikar Rasool Wani said that people are being crushed through various means and burdened with huge taxations, price rise and huge unemployment while their representatives are being booked, intimidated, threatened, booked and jailed.
The opposition together represents more population than the ruling Government, as their vote share, put together, is higher than Government but they are not allowed to raise real issues of public concern. The people should rise against the oppressive and anti- democratic measures being adopted to save democracy, Wani added.
