KUPWARA, July 9:  Maha Samparak Abhiyan, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s ambitious programme to reach out to people in nook and corner of the country, today reached border town Jumagund near Line of Control (LoC) in frontier Kupwara district. On the occasion, scores of people joined the Abhiyan led by Ishfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal, BJP leader and vice-chairman Abhiyan in Kupwara.
Addressing people in remote Jumagund, around 145 Kms from Srinagar, Poswal regretted that the border area has been largely ignored by the previous Governments especially on developmental front.
“Construction of road leading to Jumagund under PMGSY is going at a snail’s pace. The State of health care is so poor that two dispensaries are devoid of doctors and women are forced to cover miles to avail health care facilities. Similarly the ignored border area is devoid of power facility and majority of people are still using old means of lighting,” said Poswal.
While vowing their full support to the BJP, local residents raised pro-BJP and Pro- Modi slogans after listening to the address by BJP leader. They demanded that road leading to Mai-Sharda and Mai,Narda, religious shrine of Muslims and Pandits respectively in Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PAK)  should be thrown open like it was before partition.
Poswal said that people want to join BJP to realize their dreams of better facilities. He said that under Abhiyan various civic action programmes were held in far-off areas of Kupwara.
“Apart from free medical camps and free community meal, books and stationery were distributed to the children under the Abhiyan in some far-off areas of Karnah constituency. A few families whose houses were gutted were also helped monetarily,” he added.
