BJP working against interest of poor: Manohar

BILLAWAR, May 25: Former minister and senior Congress leader, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma has alleged that BJP has been working against the interests of the poor and also the people from Jammu region.
Addressing public meetings at Dewal, Phinter, Dungara, Mandli, Dingisambli, Dharmani, Barota, Budal-Tharakalwal and Kah area of Billawar,
Dr Sharma alleged that BJP was totally working against the interests of poor in the country. He said the BJP leaders are only talking much, but doing nothing on the ground. Its polices and most of the decisions taken during three years tenure indicate and reflect the real face of BJP whether it may be allocation of funds for social sector or the other major sectors like education and health.
Dr Sharma lamented that BJP has negligent approach towards rural area and during his visit to Model village Bardhat, he found non- functioning of Solar lights and PHE dug well for more than two years. He said that the wrong polices of BJP Government completely halted the development of State and adversely affected the conditions of backward and far-flung area.
The Congress leader said that Coalition Government has started special programme for development of backward and far-flung and remote areas of the State namely “Bad Pocket Area Development Program” and for which Rs 50 crore are kept in budget every year from 2011-12 in additional to normal funds, but BJP released nothing till date under this head. A numbers of schemes of Billawar, Basholi and Bani under PHE,PWD (R&B), PDD for construction of roads, bridges, water supply schemes etc were left half way due to non- availability of funds.
He said that BJP- PDP Government has closed 1380 Primary Schools and a number of Middle schools in State and most of them from far-flung area which directly affects the literacy of people living in remote areas. Dr Sharma said that the failure of the Government exposed the real face of BJP and its leadership before the public of the region.
