SAMBA, June 4: Irate BJP workers led by DDC member, Suresh Kumar Falli expressed their displeasure and held a strong protest against the officials of the Electricity Department in Ghagwal near here, today.
The protestors warned of launching an agitation if the power supply is not improved soon. Every year in the Ghagwal Subdivision , the power system falters during the Summer season. This year also, consumers are not getting enough electricity from Ghagwal to Rajpura area. The condition of the electricity system in rural areas is very bad. In the villages connected to Ghagwal Power House, instead of 18 hours, electricity is supplied only for three to four hours, they alleged.
On Saturday, all the BJP workers of Ghagwal Mandal gathered at Ghagwal and demonstrated against the officials of the Electricity Department regarding the unannounced power cut. Suresh Kumar Falli DDC member said that the power system has collapsed in the Ghagwal area for the last several days. The Electricity Department is claiming to provide 18 hours of electricity but the truth is different from this. For the last one month, electricity has been supplied in villages for only three to four hours. People are not getting relief from the heat due to lack of electricity. After the demonstration, BJP workers demanded the officials of the Electricity Department to improve the power system. Falli warned agitation if it failed to redress the problem.
