KATHUA, Apr 4: BJP candidate for Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha Constituency, Dr Jitendra Singh said, this is not an ordinary election but a battle for democracy and in fact, a battle for our self-respect and dignified existence.
Addressing a series of over 25 road-shows and election meetings in the Kathua Assembly segment today, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the nation is faced with the question as to whether it is going to continue with the same farcical democracy controlled by a coterie of dynasty and its corrupt henchmen or are we going to remodel our democracy with values of justice and equality symbolised by a set-up headed by Narendra Modi as Prime Minister.
It is a sad fall-out of the Congress rule that the corrupt and the scamsters are rewarded with ministerial berths and those facing charges of having embezzelled thousands of crores of public money are rewarded with party mandate to contest Parliament election, said Dr Jitendra Singh and added, the new dispensation headed by Narendra Modi will mark a departure from this trend.
Dr Jitendra Singh took a dig at the Congress-National Conference coalition for advocating withdrawal of AFSPA from district Kathua because according to them peace has been restored here notwithstanding repeated recent terror attacks in the area. He said, the Ministers and the Chief Minister who suggest this, would do well to first set an example by lowering the level of their own personal security while touring through this district.
Kathua has its own set of problems including poor water supply, bad road connectivity to rural areas and grievances of people living along the border, said Dr Jitendra Singh and added, the BJP is already seized of all these issues but can redress them only when there is a BJP Government at the Center and the Constituency is represented by a BJP member in the Parliament.
Dr Jitendra Singh warned the Congress-NC coalition not to try rigging at polling booths in certain segments like Gool, Mahore, Banihal and Inderwal, and said, any misadventure like this will cost the Congress dearly because the BJP cadre this time is fully prepared to fight it out.
Among other, senior leader Thakur Ranjit Singh, Distt president, Adv Vijay Sharma, vice president, Prem Nath Dogra and Pritpal Singh, general secretary, Raghunandan Singh, Gopal Mahajan and Vidyasagar, Mandal president, Chattar Singh Rana, Ramesh Gupta and Vicky Sharma, Youth leaders Inderjit Samyal and Damanjit Singh and several other prominent BJP leaders also joined the campaign.
