SUCHETGARH, Jan 27: Pradesh Congress Committee president, Ghulam Ahmed Mir today said that with the entry of Priyanka Gandhi into active politics, the BJP has turned panicky and some of its leaders are giving illogical and irrelevant statements in the public for the last few days.
Addressing a large public convention along with AICC secretary, Shakeel Khan (I/C J&K affairs) at border village Shatrayian in Suchetgarh today, Mir said that with the entry of Priyanka Gandhi in politics the BJP leadership has turned panicky. He said for the last few days it has been observed that some of the party leaders are giving confusing, irrelevant and illogical statements. He said with the support of Priyanka Gandhi, the party will further get momentum not only in Uttar Pradesh but other parts of the country as well.
Training guns at BJP leadership for promoting divisive politics and regionalism, Mir said BJP should avoid playing communal card in the sensitive state like J&K. He said BJP can go to any extent for the vote bank. He said the party which used to cry against alleged regional discrimination and projected itself as champions of the cause of Jammu, stabbed the people at the back who supported them a lot and provided 25 seats for the first time in the history for past 70 years. The BJP leaders surrendered the interests of its people for the sake of power and vested interests, he added.
Mir alleged that BJP totally ignored the border people and the promise of providing 5 marla plots has not been fulfilled. The incident of border firing increased during BJP rule and it has failed to handle the border situation and also bring normalcy in Kashmir.
PCC chief said that Congress always promoted secularism and ensured equal development in all the three regions of the State. He said Congress has presence in all three regions and it will emerge as largest party in coming elections. He appealed the party workers to gear up their activities in view of coming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the State.
AICC secretary Shakeel Khan alleged that BJP despite securing strong support from Jammu region surrendered its points in Agenda of Alliance (AOA) and also set aside the aspirations of the people from Jammu region. He said BJP-BDP alliance caused much damage to the State and its mis-governance brought catastrophe in the State. They compromised everything for the sake of power. He said people heaved a sigh of relief after its fall in the State. Now the people will teach a lesson to this party in next elections.
