JAMMU, Dec 31:Reacting over the reports about J&K High Court opening up the on pan India basis, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today termed it as BJP’s new year gift for thousands of jobless youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, PDP general secretary and former MLC, Surinder Choudhary said the situation after the scrapping of Articles 370 and 35-A has been turning grim and now the axe has fallen upon thousands of educated jobless youth of Jammu and Kashmir who have now been denied the livelihood by BJP’s August 5 decision.
He said that the claims made by the PDP at the time of 370 revocation about youth empowerment and opening up of the new world of prosperity and development have miserably fallen flat with J&K High Court in a recent advertisement inviting applications from the aspirants across India. Choudhary said the latest advertisement could be a mere tip of an iceberg and if immediate remedial measures weren’t taken, the day is not far when Jammu and Kashmir could plunge into a dreadful world of chaos, joblessness and severe economic crisis.
The PDP general secretary accused the BJP of duplicity and taking the people especially the youth for a ride by playing with their emotions and denying them the right to earn a decent livelihood.
He added that while more than sixty thousand daily wagers are eagerly waiting to get regularised, the Government is horribly in slumber with no efforts being made to accord a dignified life to these perturbed youth.
Choudhary added that there are no less than 11,807 doctors, engineers and post- graduates from Jammu region alone without a job. He added that there are 1642 graduates in Jammu region without any job while as those in category of ‘others’ are 7916 in number. “The numbers could be worryingly higher as majority of the youth aren’t registered with Government’s employment office. What the BJP is doing to people here is unpardonable and worrisome. It is high time that those at the helm must ensure that jobs and land rights of the J&K residents aren’t fiddled with at any cost and the identification that has been snatched away be restored,” said Choudhary.
