JAMMU, Dec 18: While stating that the BJP was trying to create 2008 like situation in the State, People Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly condemned the language of hate and threats issued by some leaders during `Dharam Sansad’ organized by VHP and RSS at Jammu recently.
In a press statement issued here today, former minister and senior PDP leader, Naeem Akhtar said that by promoting such hatred and negativity, the BJP has once again established that it can never again be trusted as party of governance in the composite state like J&K and it has blocked its entry into the power structures of the State.
“It is unfortunate that BJP which is ruling the country, organized the event like Dharam Sansad in Jammu and senior party leaders including its state president attended it,” Akhtar said.
While condemning the hateful speeches made by some leaders during the program against a particular community, PDP leader expressed hope that both the majority as well as minority communities will respond appropriately to such utterances and preserve the soul and spirit of Jammu region.
” People like me, who have been a part of the growth of Jammu into an inclusive and composite society over the past decades are of the considered view that the sentiments expressed at the function in Jammu do not coincides with the general opinion of the people of Jammu region. If these imported voices are even tolerated within the State, it would first hit Jammu itself as we have witnessed in Kashmir society in 1990,” Naeem Akhtar cautioned.
The PDP leader expressed that if the leaders of these right wing nationalist organizations claim to be religious, they should try to become good human beings first and speak of inclusive growth and prosperity. He added that such campaigns can lead the country to disaster and J&K can become worst victim of it, he added.
