LEH, May 26: Minister for Cooperatives Tsering Dorjey Lakrook reiterated that BJP will continue to struggle for UT Status to Ladakh.
He stated this while interacting with media persons here today.
Talking about the opening of Mount Kailash yatra road via Ladakh, Dorjey asserted about the importance of bi-lateral decision between two countries before coming up to any conclusion that would play a vital role in this direction.
“Effort is being made for inclusion of Bhoti language in the 8th schedule in ‘classical language’ category”, he said.
He stated that though the UPA-NC Government did bring in money for Leh Beautification, but a detailed project report for seven major projects worth Rs 414 crores under the name Greater Leh Master Plan was approved during his tenure as CEC. The present Council proved inefficient in completing all of these plans, alleged Dorjey.
Dorjey said that he has given directions to DC Leh to accelerate the on-going work at Leh market.
During my tenure, works under NABARD worth Rs 22 crores at Yarma-Gonbo and Kobet-Burma Nubra were sanctioned and the works of which are now about to complete, he said, adding that 10 various schemes worth Rs 49 crores and Shatse-Tagna bridge were also sanctioned during his tenure.
“Under PMGSY, Rs 9 crore Lingshed-Photoksar road was completed during my tenure, and re-tendering process for the work on upwards from Photoksar worth Rs 55 crores has already been taken up, he stated.
Talking about other works worth Rs 25 crores at Kharnak and Rs 23 crores worth work at Largyab-Patsathang Nubra, he stated that effort is going on for its completion.
He further added that after assuming as Member Parliament by Thupstan Chhewang, 22 schemes worth approx Rs 436 crores were approved for both Leh and Kargil.
Rs 650 crores sanctioned for Changthang region will be spent for providing houses to the monads of 20 villages in the next 5 years”, he said, and assured that Rs 30 crores lapsed during 2014-15 financial year due to financial crunch in the State will be revalidated.
