JAMMU, Oct 11: Terming yesterday’s statement of Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad that “ceasefire violation is correlated with Narendra Modi-led NDA coming to power” as misleading, BJP State spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan said that the statement made by the Mr. Azad is far away from ground realities.
Balbir Ram Rattan, while refreshing Azad’s memory, said, “it was not for the first time that our neighbour Pakistan indulged in ceasefire violation. It had been doing so repeatedly after intervals of weeks or months”. “Narendra Modi led NDA Government has come to power just few months ago while Pakistan had been violating ceasefire and indulging in cross border firings and shelling on civilian population every now and then”, he added.
Elaborating, Balbir said that Congress had ruled the country for maximum period after independence and it always adopted a soft approach towards Pakistan as a result of which it emboldened Pakistan’s ulterior designs to indulge in cross border firing as a shield to push its trained terrorists into Indian territory.
“Instead of applauding Modi-led NDA Government for its quick and befitting reply to Pakistan, the Congress leader has tried to mislead the people, which is very unfortunate”, Balbir said, adding that it was for the first time that Union Government gave a free hand to BSF and other forces.
He further said that Mr Azad must not forgot that it was the same Congress that remained mum on most of issues related to national security and integrity i.e. beheading of Indian soldier on LoC, digging of underground tunnel at Chachwal area of Kathua district during UPA rule. “Congress always adopted weak- kneed policy, as it, at the one hand took no strong steps on the issue of terrorism and cross border firing in J&K but on the other hand, was always keen to hold talks with Pakistan, but in comparison Modi Government at Centre made it very clear that terrorism, ceasefire violation and talks couldn’t go together”, he mentioned, adding, ‘Cancellation of Foreign Secretary level talks, giving free hand to security forces against Pak ceasefire violations depicted much stronger policy of NDA Govt’.
Balbir said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying hard to bring the things back on track which had been made worse by the UPA Government during the last 10 years rule.
