AKHNOOR, June 8:  Former minister and senior Congress leader  Sham Lal Sharma has said that the PDP-BJP coalition is a non-starter on governance and so far its only achievement is giving rise to controversies and chaos on various fronts leading to unrest and vitiating overall atmosphere in the State.
Addressing a largely attended meeting of Congress workers at Akhnoor today Sham Lal said that the present Government  which is completing its 100 days in office has only created uncalled for controversies on various fronts including on issues of national interests and on important subjects while it remains a non-starter on the issue of governance.
He said there is unrest against the present coalition among various sections because of its controversial functioning and approach to the cause of different sections and issues of diverse interests because of inherent contradictions of the two coalition partners.  The unrest in Jammu region over the issue of AIIMS and artificial lake besides, denial of relief to the rain affected farmers is the utter failure and betrayal of BJP to safeguard the genuine interests of the people. He said that BJP is showing total bankruptcy of leadership and has disrespected the mandate of people of Jammu region by taking U-turn on all its core issues and commitments to the electorate as well as the people of the country.
Mr Sharma said that the contradictory statements of not only coalition partners but the leaders within BJP and its sister organizations itself reflect total confusion in their working, hurting the sentiments of the people day in and day out. He said the relief cheques offered to the farmers who suffered huge losses to their crops due to rains, amount to adding insult to their injuries and reflect the insensitivity of the State and the Central Government towards the farming community.
Sharma said that the Congress would act as watch dog of the interests of the people and  not allow the present coalition to compromise on the interests of the people of different sections for the sake of power. He said that Congress would always strive and lead on the forefront against the actions which are discriminatory against any region or section.
