BJP, other bodies appreciate granting ST status to Paharis, others

JAMMU, July 27: Bharatiya Janata Party, several other organistions and individuals have appreciated the step of Union Government for granting ST status to Paharis and some other sections in the Jammu and Kashmir.
Senior BJP leader and DDC Member from Darhal (Rajouri), Mohd Iqbal Malik congratulated the Pahari Tribals on induction of Bill in Lok Sabha granting Scheduled Tribe (ST) status, which will include the Pahari ethical group in the desired Schedule. “A long standing justified demand of Paharis’ is acknowledged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi Government”, the BJP leader said.
Malik along with Gulzar Ahmad Qureshi, District president Minority Morcha Kazamt Malik, Co-Convenor Pahari Cell Poonch; Saleem Manhas, District spokesperson Rajouri -Arsalan Malik was addressing a Press Conference at BJP headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
While addressing the media persons, Iqbal congratulated the Pahari Tribals for inclusion in Schedule of Tribes. Has also congratulated Bakerwals and Gujjar tribe as their quota remaining intact. He along with others, thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National president JP Nadda and BJP State president Ravinder Raina for ensuring the justice to the deserved group.

Paddar Welfare Front chief patron Ram Singh Chauhan and president Mohinder Singh Rana, along with Prehlad Singh Rathore, president Mata Machail Yatra Management Sanstha, in a joint statement issued here have strongly hailed the Ventral Government led by Narinder Modi for granting Schedule Tribe status to people of most far flung, poor and neglected area Sub-Division Paddar of District Kishtwar, among others and described it as an historical step opening the gate for all round peace and development which was hither to closed over last 75 years.
They said that the demand for ST status was first raised on July 12, 1985 by the prudent citizens of Paddar namely Late Hari Krishan Tickoo, Thakur Chand Rathore, Dina Nath Rathore, Jia Lal Palsar, Pt Lakhmi Ram & many more with a single demand “either to grant ST to Paddar on the anology of Zanskar in the North or PANGI in the East” or annex Paddar with Pangi Himachal Pardesh. The people of Paddar in general & youths, educated Un-employed in particular, as per press release issued here, have hoped that dark & dingy past ranging over 75 years, has now come to end and that flood gates of new opportunities of peace & development are opened.
