JAMMU, June 25: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu & Kashmir observed “Black Day” on the day of imposition of Emergency by the then PM Indira Gandhi and honoured the “Loktantra Senani” who suffered badly during the authoritarian of then Congress Government at party Headquarter, here, today.
Black days of Emergency were remembered by all those, who were arrested under MISA (Maintenance of Internal Security Act) at BJP head office to denounce the emergency imposed by Congress in 1975.
Satish Sharma, All India general secretary, Loktantra Senani Sangh from Delhi was chief guest and Ramesh Arora former MLC was main speaker. Many other sufferers shared their experience of those days.
Sat Paul Gupta RSS, former Dy. CM Kavinder Gupta, former MLC Ashok Khajuria, former MLC Ramesh Arora, Suresh Sharma (RSS), Vipan Kumar, Chander Mohan Sharma, Shaminder Sharma, Surinder Manhas, Surinder Gupta, Romesh Gupta, Sudharshan Gupta, Ram Mohan, Sat Paul Singh, Salish Sethi, Anand, Ashok Gupta and many others were honoured on the occasion.
All person i.e. Loktantra Senani were honoured by MP (Lok Sabha) Jugal Kishore Sharma, Mayor JMC Chander Mohan Gupta, former Minister, Sat Sharma, BJP general secretaries Vibodh Gupta and Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal and other dignitaries.
While addressing the gathering, Satish Sharma said that by giving respect to all who fought to restore democracy is a good decision and the State Government should also follow the path to honour the Loktantra Senani as it has been done in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan etc.
While addressing Loktantra Senani, Kavinder Gupta said that BJP came into existence after the emergency. All fundamental laws were suspended and people with Nationalist thinking especially those associated with the R.S.S were tortured in J&K.
Ramesh Arora former MLC said that a nation remembers days when press censorship was imposed and vasectomy was done by force. Article 352 (i) of the Constitution was misused, courts were stopped from entertaining cases. Electric connection of all print media was disconnected to stop them from printing in the State of J&K and other parts of the country more than 2000 people courted arrest 150 persons were detained under MISA.
Shaminder Sharma said that society should respect those who struggled for democracy and if ever a nation forgets their contribution, that nation is bound to suffer. He complimented BJP for holding a memorable programme on the very important day in the Democracy of India.
Vibodh Gupta general secretary BJP complimented all the dignitaries for their participation. He expressed special thanks to the Loktantra Senani on behalf of the whole nation as they waged a war to upkeep the ethos of democracy of a free nation.
Programme was organized in the guidance of Programme Incharge Ramesh Arora. Chander Mohan Sharma, BJP media secretary, Dr. Pardeep Mahotra and Sat Paul Singh assisted in the programme management.
A two-minute silence was observed for those Loktantra Senani, who left the world and were detained under MISA.
“Government should consider the demands of Loktantra Senani” a resolution was also adopted in the programme in this regard.
