JAMMU, Feb 3: BJP MLA and former Minister Ch Sukhnandan today staged walkout in the Legislative Assembly over alleged ‘harassment’ of the farmers.
“The farmers are forced to buy agriculture implements under various schemes from the agro and other selective industries comparatively on high rates”, he said during the Question Hour in the Lower House.
However, the Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura informed the House that the farmers are advised to purchase farm machinery involving subsidy under various Centrally Sponsored Schemes from J&K State Agro Industries Development Corporation Limited on approved rates.
The farmers have the option to purchase agriculture implements from all leading brands as such there is no question to force the farmers to buy any particular brand comparatively on higher rates, the Minister said.
“I assure the House to take necessary action if any specific instance of forcing the farmers to bug agriculture implements from Agro Industries Development Corporation Limited is brought to my notice”, Lone said.
However, BJP MLA said, “there are numerous instances…….this is grave injustice with the farmers”.
Expressing dis-satisfaction over the reply of the Minister, BJP MLA staged walk-out.
