DODA, Feb 20: Lashing out on the BJP MLA for misuse of the Government men and machinery for political functions, Abdul Majid Wani General Secretary of the PCC and former Minister for R&B said that the present MLA and his henchmen have made mockery of the institution and have indulged in malpractices without any check upon them.
Citing example of misuse of Government machinery yesterday in under-14 cricket tournament, Majid Wani said the staff and HR workers of PHE Division were made to witness the tournament, as local public did not turn up to welcome the MLA in the cricket tournament function. This is a mockery and reflection of desperation of the BJP party MLA on looking the public support in Doda, he added.
He stated that the MLA, his close relatives and other henchmen have totally encroached upon the authority of local Government officers and fully involved in a number of scams where his henchmen have become contractors and sub contractors of the Government schemes and projects. There is big embezzlement with regard to local water supply system, electricity cables laying schemes and all other major construction projects, he added.
Demanding an enquiry in all infrastructure development works in Doda during the last three years, Majid Wani appealed to the Chief Minister to set up an enquiry commission led by a retired judge or Chief Vigilance Commissioner to look into the loot of Government schemes funds by the local MLA of Doda, his brothers and relatives who have amassed wealth using unfair means. The road projects have been left incomplete, not only putting people into trouble but also posing serious environment threat of soil erosions and land slides in the area, he said and also demanded a thorough probe in incomplete works left behind in Batote Thathri project, wherein the sub contractors have drawn bills for incomplete works in criminal connivance with few Government officers.
Wani further said that the local BJP MLA is trying to create a gap of hatred between the two communities and trying to spoil the age long brotherhood and communal harmony in Doda, just to cover up misdeeds of his brothers and other henchmen.
