JAMMU, Feb 18: Accusing BJP of trying to mislead the nation about the role of Congress over the JNU issue, JK PCC chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir today said that Congress Party and its leadership does not need certificate of patriotism from BJP and its sister organizations.
Addressing a meeting of senior functionaries of PCC, members of executive and frontal organizations here today, Mir said that Congress Party and its leadership has a history of sacrifices for unity and integrity of the country in the pre-independence and post-independence period for the nation right from Mahatma Gandhi to Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi and those questioning the patriotic credentials of the Congress leadership are making fool of themselves in a vain attempt to mislead the people.
Mr Mir said that those forces and elements who glorify the assassins of our great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and others are now questioning the credentials of Congress party and its leadership. He said that the Congress always stood for the rule of law and those involved in any kind of unlawful activities against the nation must be dealt according to the law of the land.
The PCC president said that ongoing political uncertainty and stalemate over the Govt formation is a matter of great concern as the people are facing hardships on various fronts, especially on the front of food security and availability of ration as per existing scale. He said the two parties PDP and BJP are keeping the public in dark over Government formation. They should come clear on the stand.
