JAMMU, Apr 25: All India Youth Congress president, Amrinder Singh Raja and PCC chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir have alleged that BJP leadership was trying to distort the Congress history and project wrong picture before the people of this country.
Addressing an impressive one day convention of Pradesh Youth Congress held here today in connection with the 100th birth anniversary celebrations of former Prime Minister, Late Indira Gandhi today, they said that Modi Govt was trying to distort history, ignoring the contribution of Congress party and its towering leaders. They said the truth can not be ignored and people of the country can’t be befooled for long.
Cong leaders lashed out at the Modi Government for distort history and ignoring the contributions of great stalwarts like Indira Gandhi on political considerations but said that these attempts would not succeed as the countrymen would never forget their contributions. They referred to the removal of the postal stamp in name of former PM Indira Gandhi during BJP regime, which speaks of their vendetta.
They further said that Gandhi’s achievements in post Bangladesh war was lauded by none less than former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee but Modi Government and present BJP leadership has jealousy towards Congress stalwarts. They also referred to attempts to present distort facts about Pandit Nehru and Sardar Patel, where as both the leaders had lot of praise and togetherness during their whole life.
Senior leader Sham Lal Sharma lashed out at the opportunist forces who exploit the sentiment of the people for their political vested interests. He said that national interests should not be compromised and Congress has to be cautious against the such forces who have dual standards.
Rigzin Jora severely criticized the failure of the PDP-BJP for failing to come to the expectations of people and are responsible for the prevailing unrest in the Valley. He said that Congress always worked for strengthening the bonds of unity and integrity of three regions and ensured equitable development and all out war against communal and divisive forces is the test of the time to maintain unity in diversity.
Raman Bhalla also lashed out at the BJP-PDP combine for its total failure and blamed the two parties of exploiting the sentiments of people. He said that two parties and their leaders speak in different languages but are together for power, which has left them exposed before people.
Earlier, PYC president Pranav Shagotra welcomed the IYC chief and other senior leaders of PCC and said that Youth Congress is the backbone of the party. He said that Youth Congress has always highlighted the issues of youth and protested against the wrong policies of the present regime which is most unholy and opportunists. He said youth congress would continue to target the polices and failure of present regime.
