JAMMU, Mar 29: The son of a prominent BJP leader died today in mysterious circumstances at his residence in Gandhi Nagar area of city outskirts.
“The deceased has been identified as Pratush Gupta, 23, son of State BJP vice-president, Harinder Gupta, resident of 15/DC Gandhi Nagar, Jammu,” a police officer said.
Quoting family members, he said that when their servant went to give bed tea to Pratush in the morning, the latter did not wake up despite many efforts of the servant, who then informed his (Pratush’s) father. “In unconscious condition, his father immediately took him to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where doctors declared him as brought dead,” the officer said.
He said that the reason of the death was not clear immediately. “The body of the deceased was handed over to his family members after postmortem conducted at GMCH Jammu while inquest proceedings initiated at police station Gandhi Nagar,” the officer added.
