Patil, who arrived here today, reviewed the prevailing situation with the senior Congress leaders and frontal wings. She took stock of the overall scenario in wake of stepped up killings of civilians especially minorities and outside labourers as well as the martyrdom of several jawans in Poonch-Rajouri area and elsewhere.
AICC Incharge has said that the claims of total normalcy by the Govt and BJP leaders, have proved to be hollow and the innocents especially minorities are being killed and targeted by terrorists, day in & day out, which is very serious and shocking.
Expressing serious concern over the prevailing situation in which all the peace loving people especially minorities are feeling threatened and leaving Valley for the safety of lives. She said that this is worst situation after 1990’s adding that Govt’s claims came out to be hollow, proved to be wrong about ground situation.
She held interaction with the party men about the prevailing scenario and the sense of insecurity amongst the people. She was apprised about the grave concern amongst the people over the recent upsurge in terrorist activities resulting into targeted killings of innocents. There is large scale fear amongst minorities in Kashmir and the employees from Jammu including Kashmiri migrants. The minorities and outside workers spread in different parts have been fleeing Valley and the employees from Jammu in different field areas are fear struck due to lack of any secure atmosphere and arrangements for them.
The party leaders sought adequate security arrangements for all vulnerable sections especially minorities, including employees from Jammu and outside residents. The Centre Govt and UT administration has utterly failed to protect the innocent people, who are being targeted selectively for over two years and now the situation has turned worst and unsafe for the nationalist people in the valley.
Patil briefed the party leaders about the detailed deliberations in the CWC over the Jammu and Kashmir situation and the serious concern expressed by the leadership of the Congress party over the prevailing situation. She raised issues of public concern especially the safety, security and welfare of migrating people.
Several PCC and DCC leaders and those from frontal wings interacted with her today in party office Jammu.
