JAMMU, Nov 26: Senior leader of BJP & Member of Zonal Railway User’s Consultative Committee (ZROCC), S. Varinderjit Singh, in a letter written to Railway Minister, Piyush Goyal, demanded starting of train service from Jammu to Shri Anandpur Sahib (Punjab).
In his letter, Varinderjit Singh said that Anandpur Sahib is very pious religious place of Sikhs, Shri Guru Gobind Singh laid the foundation of Khalsa Panth on April 13 in the year 1699, by offering Amrit to Panj Pyare at this historic place. Shri Guru Teg Bahadur ji established Anandpur Sahib and Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji spent most of his life in Anandpur Sahib. Virasat-e-Khalsa and many other religious places are around Anandpur Sahib.
He further wrote that Historical temple of Naina Devi is just 20 kms from here. Thousands of pilgrims also visit there every year. There is no straight bus service from Jammu to Anandpur Sahib or Naina Devi. He expressed gratitude to the Union Government for starting weekly rail service from Jammu to Hazoor Sahib (Nanded) and said that pilgrims of Jammu and Kashmir and other states will be benefitted from this. It should run at least twice or thrice a week rather than once as there is huge rush of pilgrims travelling in this train.
